Named in honor of demolition safety pioneer Mike Casbon, NDA’s Michael J. Casbon Safety Awards recognize companies that go above and beyond to protect their teams and uphold the highest safety standards in the industry. Developed by the NDA Awards and Safety Committees, this award is open to all NDA member companies, regardless of size because safety excellence knows no boundaries.
Mike Casbon dedicated over 25 years to demolition, decontamination, and construction, and played a key role in shaping NDA’s education and safety programs. His legacy lives on through this award, which evaluates applicants across three key areas:
- Lagging Indicators
- Safety Culture
- Company Safety Overview (Narrative Responses)
Applications are scored out of 38 possible points.
Key Dates for the 2026 Awards Season:
- Applications Open: August 1, 2025
- Application Deadline: January 15, 2026
- Winners recognized at Demolition Phoenix (February 4-7, 2026)
Project Categories:
Submit your project into one of the following categories. One winner will be selected from each project category.
- Category A: Less than 100,000 man-hours/year
- Category B: 100,001 – 350,000 man-hours/year
- Category C: 350,000+ man-hours/year
